Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks an Early-Career Environmental / Water Resources Engineer for our Austin, TX office (also in San Antonio or Houston). You will apply academic knowledge to real-world projects involving hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, stormwater design, and environmental permitting.

You will collaborate with leading professionals on challenging civil design and water resources tasks, with fieldwork up to 30% and travel up to 20%. Bachelor's in civil engineering required; EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline (required).
• Advanced degree in water resources or environmental engineering (preferred).
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within six months (preferred).
• 2 years of internship or full-time experience in civil/environmental consulting or with a civil contractor (preferred).
• Experience with civil design and site grading (preferred).
• Experience with relevant engineering software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, ArcView (preferred).
• Strong academic credentials and interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills (required).
• Regular field work and overnight travel (required).

Responsibilities

• Civil/infrastructure design and site layout.
• Water resources analyses including hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) modeling and design.
• Fieldwork such as surface water evaluations, groundwater sampling, site inspections, contractor oversight.
• Preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and analyses for civil design and water resources.
• Perform engineering computations and prepare calculation packages.
• Technical writing of reports, letters, and proposals.
• Drive to client or project sites as needed.
• Fieldwork up to 30% and overnight travel up to 20%.
