Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist to join our emergency response team. You will conduct sampling, analyze data, and contribute to risk assessments to protect environmental and public health.

The role requires travel, on-call duties, and adherence to HAZWOPER and safety standards. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and strong communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field.
• 1–3 years of related field experience may be substituted for degree.
• Advanced computer skills on a Windows platform and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Availability for extended travel and emergency response at client requests.
• Maintain, calibrate and mobilize equipment for emergency response.
• Gather and analyze samples from potential contamination sources.
• Perform monitoring and sampling according to prescribed methods.
• Compile and summarize scientific data and literature; and take action accordingly.
• Complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training within 3 weeks of hire.
• Possess DISA, TWIC clearances within 3 months.
• Follow all safety requirements within first month of hire.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
