Job summary

Woodard & Curran is seeking an entry-level scientist to support environmental assessment, compliance, and remediation projects in Duluth, GA. You will work with senior staff on wetlands delineations, habitat surveys, and GIS mapping while collaborating with engineers and project managers.

The role involves fieldwork, report prep, and occasional travel. The ideal candidate holds a BS in a natural resources field, is willing to travel, and has strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in natural resources, ecology, environmental science, fisheries, wildlife biology, chemistry, geology, environmental engineering, or related discipline.
• MS degree preferred but not required.
• 1–2 years of field experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Delineation of wetlands using regional supplements to the USACE Wetland Delineation Manual.
• Identification of ephemerial, intermittent, and perennial streams.
• Completion of biological assessments such as aquatic and terrestrial habitat field surveys.
• GPS/GIS data management and mapping of environmental resources.
• Assistance with preparation of USACE Section 404 permit applications.
• Assistance with State 401 Water Quality Certification applications.
• Assistance with NPDES construction stormwater permit applications.
• Esc inspections on active construction sites.
• Environmental sampling with proper chain-of-custody procedures.
• Site visits for documentation and reporting.
