Job summary

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) is seeking an Engineer I who will assist with engineering system design across multiple projects under supervision. You will perform design calculations, prepare reports, and develop cost estimates and deliverable drawings.

Under supervision, you will gain exposure to civil, mechanical, or electrical disciplines, apply core engineering principles, and contribute to meetings and site investigations while developing technical skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 0-1 year experience preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks or discipline software.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
• Understanding of timelines, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Strong grasp of core engineering principles relevant to their discipline.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in the design and detailing of engineering systems; write/edit specifications and research design options.
• Apply prescribed techniques and procedures to perform tasks; research findings and provide recommendations.
• Collect data, perform basic computations, and prepare drawings/visual aids.
• Participate in meetings/reviews to ensure code compliance; conduct site investigations/observations.
• Interact with staff, the public, officials, and contractors; limited client-facing responsibilities.
