Job summary

Bond Civil & Utility Construction Inc. is seeking a Construction Management Co-op/Intern to assist with plan reviews, submittal tracking, and document control on field projects in New York.

You will work with the Superintendent and Project Manager to develop schedules and ensure plans and specifications are followed on site. Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing plans and specs to identify required submittals.
  • Support weekly schedules with input from Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Maintain current construction drawings and specs and distribute as needed.
  • Assist with creating and tracking purchase orders, service agreements, and change orders.
  • Support project document control: contract docs, shop drawings, submittals, logs, and coordination drawings.
  • Perform weekly jobsite visits to engage with and support the field team.
  • Develop understanding of scopes of work performed and field execution.
  • Assist in field operations support: daily reporting, tracking quantities, and materials orders.
  • Develop ability to compare work installed to drawings to identify quality deficiencies.
  • Procure pricing from subcontractors and vendors for bids.
  • Participate in estimate kickoff, pre-bid walks, and bid reviews to understand work and lifecycle.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs to assist bid development.

Job description

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist with reviewing plans and specifications to identify submittals that are needed for the project and ensure they are in compliance with contract documents.
  • Support the development of weekly schedules with input from Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Maintain a current set of construction drawings and specifications and distribute to necessary parties.
  • Assist with creating and tracking purchase orders, service agreements, project specific work authorizations, and change orders for vendors and subcontractors
  • Support project document control processes which includes:
    • Contract documents and changes thereto
    • Shop drawings
    • Submittals and Submittal Log - Engineer, Subcontractors and Suppliers
    • Coordination Drawings
    • Request for Information Log
    • Change Order Request log
  • Perform weekly jobsite visits to engage with and support the field team.
  • Develop experience to understand scopes of work we perform and how they are executed in the field.
  • Assist in field operations support - daily reporting, monitoring self-perform and subcontractor activities, tracking quantities, ordering materials.
  • Develop ability to compare work installed to contract drawings to identify potential quality deficiencies.
  • Procure pricing from subcontractors and vendors for bids.
  • Participate in estimate kick off, pre-bid walks, and bid reviews to develop understanding of the work and full estimate life cycle.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs to assist in bid development.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent construction work experience.
  • Ability to develop the competency to read and comprehend drawings and specifications.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and able to effectively multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills to ensure deadlines are met while providing accurate deliverables.
  • Must have a robust knowledge of document control software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Previous Co-Op/Internship experience in a related field is preferred.
