Job description

We are seeking a motivated early career professional to join our team as a Junior Energy Quantitative Analyst, with a focus on derivatives pricing and physical asset modelling within our Commodities and Global Markets group. This role will be based in our Houston office.

As part of the Quantitative Strategist team, you will support senior quants and trading desks by applying quantitative methods to develop and maintain models used for energy derivatives valuation and physical asset optimization. The role is designed to build foundational experience while contributing to revenue generation, operational efficiency, and risk management.

Success in this role will be driven by a strong interest in quantitative problem solving, a desire to learn innovative modelling techniques, and the ability to deliver accurate, scalable solutions. Effective communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to collaborate with traders and other stakeholders in a fast paced environment are essential.

In this role, you will provide quantitative support to traders, structurers, and risk managers and assist in the development and maintenance of production grade quantitative models and analytical tools. On a day-to-day basis, you will research and help implement valuation and optimization models for physical assets such as power plants, storage facilities, and renewable energy projects. You will also contribute to enhancing and industrializing existing pricing, risk, and data analysis tools for use within front office platforms, as well as assisting with scenario analysis and simulations to support trading strategy and decision making.

Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience in a quantitative, analytical, or financial modeling role; experience in energy markets is a plus.
  • A strong academic background with a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or related field).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, with exposure to C++, SQL, or similar languages preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of energy markets (power and/or gas) and quantitative techniques, including numerical methods, optimization, or stochastic processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to develop deep quantitative and commercial expertise as part of a global team closely aligned with revenue generating activities.
Benefits
  • 1 wellbeing leave day per year and a minimum of 25 days of annual leave
  • 20 weeks' paid parental leave for primary caregivers along with 12 days of paid transition leave upon return to work and 6 weeks' paid leave for secondary caregivers

  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program, a robust behavioural health network with counselling and coaching services
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including reimbursement for professional membership or subscription
  • Recognition and service awards
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, dependent on role
  • Reimbursement for work from home equipment
