Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking a Software Quality & Testing Engineer to elevate embedded software quality. You will design and run tests using Agile/BDD, collaborating with product owners, developers and testers to ensure robust behavior tests for GM’s next generation embedded controllers.

The role involves creating test plans for hardware/software-in-the-loop environments, executing in varying test benches, and contributing to a shared knowledge base.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• Must be graduating between Dec 2026 – June 2027.
• Must be able to work in Southeast Michigan.
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop test cases to assess software products at the solution, system and feature level.
• Identify software anomalies, missed requirements and performance issues early in the development process.
• Develop robust continuous automation methods using tools such as the Robot Framework or other test automation framework.
• Understand functional, safety, and compliance requirements, implementing appropriate test plans and setups.
• Execute test plans on hardware/software-in-the-loop simulators, test benches and vehicles.
• Document and share learnings to improve team knowledge base on common software errors and corner cases.
• Collaborate with controls, diagnostic, system engineering and software teams to define acceptance criteria.
• Travel as required.
