Job summary

General Motors in Michigan seeks a Software Design Release Engineer (SW DRE) to lead the integration, validation, and release of embedded controller software and calibrations for ECUs, coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet build milestones.

This hybrid role in southeast Michigan offers exposure to validation plans, PRTS issue tracking, and lifecycle management, with relocation benefits and a path to develop software engineering and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering or Computer Science.
• Graduating between Dec 2026 and June 2027.
• Must be able to work in Southeast Michigan.
• Must have a valid US driver's license.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, validation, and release of embedded controller software and calibrations for development, production, and service applications.
• Create and maintain product plans, track program milestones, and communicate status to support on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to align requirements, review designs, and resolve issues.
• Lead and support product issue investigations through PRTS, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Create and execute controller validation plans, coordinating testing activities (bench, integration, safety, cybersecurity, regulatory).
• Manage software, calibration, and controller part numbers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support controller/system safety investigations and continuous process improvement efforts.
• Partner with suppliers, manufacturing plants, and engineering teams to support program launches and product delivery.
