Job summary

Hawaii DLIR in Downtown Honolulu is seeking a full-time Elevator Inspector trainee. You will learn safety codes, inspection procedures, and accident investigation methods while supporting higher level inspectors on field work and plan reviews.

As competence grows, you will perform progressively responsible inspection tasks, assist in tests, and help prepare reports with actionable recommendations. A driver’s license and related prerequisites are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of English, mathematics, and basic electrical/electronic principles.
• Ability to read laws, rules, codes, and technical drawings.
• Experience or training related to elevator inspection concepts.

Responsibilities

• Receive training in safety laws, codes, rules, and procedures for elevator inspection.
• accompany a higher level Inspector on inspections and learn accident investigation methods.
• Support in reviewing plans for compliance with safety standards and codes.
• Assist in conducting acceptance tests for new or renovated equipment.
• Prepare reports of inspection results with recommendations for action.
