Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • An Advanced Diploma, BTech and/or relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • A strong academic record will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Repairing and calibrating electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electronic and instrumentation faults.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, technical investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Providing technical support to internal teams and external customers.
  • Assisting with the repair and maintenance of RF and microwave test equipment.
  • Applying correct procedures for RF connector handling, cleaning, inspection and care.
  • Maintaining accurate service, calibration, repair and technical records.
  • Complying with company procedures, quality standards, manufacturer specifications and safety requirements.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to resolve complex engineering and service-related issues.
  • Continuously developing technical knowledge across the organisation's product portfolio.

About the Role

A leading technical services organisation is seeking a Junior Electronic Service Engineer to perform the repair, calibration and maintenance of electronic test and measurement equipment.

The successful candidate will have solid practical knowledge of electronics, sound fault-finding and diagnostic skills, and a customer-focused approach. The role requires someone who can work independently, apply sound technical judgement and resolve technical issues effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional to develop specialist expertise in RF and microwave test equipment while working as part of an experienced technical team.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Electronic Service Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Repairing and calibrating electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electronic and instrumentation faults.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • An Advanced Diploma, BTech and/or relevant industry experience will be considered.

  • Minimum 3 years' practical experience in the repair and/or calibration of test and measurement equipment.
  • Good understanding of test and measurement principles.
  • Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of electronics and instrumentation.
  • Practical knowledge of RF connector care, handling and usage.
  • Experience with RF and microwave test equipment will be advantageous.
  • Experience with signal generators, spectrum analysers, network analysers, power meters, oscilloscopes or similar instrumentation will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Customer-focused, dependable and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
