Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Controls Engineer to join its automation team in Fort Smith or Lamar, AR.

You will assist design, programming and commissioning of industrial control systems alongside senior engineers. The role offers hands-on exposure to PLC/HMI programming, electrical schematic work, and robotics integration in real-world manufacturing settings, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, control theory or industrial automation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to read technical drawings or willing to develop this skill.
• Good written and verbal communication; collaborative work style.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and development of industrial control systems and electrical hardware.
• Create and revise electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
• Support component selection, hardware configuration, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project requirements.
• Assist with PLC and HMI programming, configuration and troubleshooting.
• Support integration of sensors, motor drives, industrial networks, and robotics.
• Participate in FAT and SAT and assist commissioning at customer facilities.
• Maintain engineering drawings and project records; follow safety and quality requirements.
