Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Junior Signal Processing Engineer in California to design and test digital signal processing algorithms for sensor, RF, and communications systems. You will prototype in MATLAB/Python, translate algorithms into production code, and validate performance against requirements.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, contribute to technical documentation, and participate in code and design reviews in a learning-focused environment that rewards innovation.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Coursework or projects in digital signal processing and communications.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ for numerical computing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required by project).
• Relevant internships, co-ops, or research experience in DSP or RF systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype digital signal processing algorithms for sensor and RF/communications systems.
• Analyze real-world datasets to characterize signals, noise, and system performance.
• Implement and optimize algorithms in MATLAB/Python and support translation to production code.
• Validate algorithm performance through simulation, unit tests, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on architecture, design reviews, and technical trade studies.
• Document designs, assumptions, test methods, and results for internal and customer reviews.
