Job summary

Peregrine Advisors LLC seeks an engineer to help build secure, scalable government-focused pipelines and cloud infrastructure. You will contribute to IaC, deploy automation, and manage Docker/AWS environments, while embedding security and auditability from the start.

You will work with Python scripting, CI/CD practices, and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery and compliance across projects in a hybrid Washington, DC area setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, or operations engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Practical use of one or more pipeline tools, CI/CD concepts.
• Ability to write scripts in Python; Bash/PowerShell a plus.
• Familiarity with Docker and AWS cloud services.
• Exposure to infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform).
• Understanding of how containers are orchestrated.
• Experience with Linux fundamentals.
• Knowledge of web apps & APIs, networking, and load balancing.
• Knowledge of cloud security and secure software delivery practices.
• Ability to resolve infra and deployment issues; code review.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Terraform or CloudFormation code defining infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain deployment automation and pipelines under senior engineers.
• Manage Docker containers and AWS environments from orchestration to monitoring.
• Integrate vulnerability checks and policy controls into delivery pipelines.
• Transform repetitive tasks into Python scripts; leverage Bash/PowerShell when needed.
• Map and implement NIST SP 800-53 controls and automate compliance evidence.
• Incorporate AI-assisted tools into pipelines, testing, and scripting.
• Participate in code reviews and explain changes and rationale.
• Help build a security-first engineering culture from day one.
