Job summary

Perkins&Will is seeking a Designer I in Chicago to support the design process under supervision. You will contribute to project goals, assist with schematic design, development, and construction documents, and help with material selections and client presentations.

The role requires 0-3 years of experience and a professional degree in Architecture, Design, or related discipline. Proficiency in 3D modeling, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino is desired, with LEED GA

Qualifications

0-3 years of experience in architecture or design.
A professional degree in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline.
Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred.
Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements.
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino are desirable.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Problem solving, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
Collaborative and professional work ethic.
LEED GA or within 6 months of hire.
Preparing for ARE exams.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance and contribute to team goals and standards of excellence in design and living design.
Support preparation of creative design ideas, concepts, and solutions as an integral design team member.
Provide design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
Perform product research and assist with material selections.
Assist in preparing client presentation materials using design skills and creativity.
Use a creative approach to perform tasks on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
Self-check work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and document compliance per the Project Delivery Manual.
Proactively ask questions and show curiosity about design and the industry.
Provide support to tasks within project teams and studio activities.
Participate in design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups.
Maintain open communication within team and with the team leader.
Communicate ideas in a way that inspires others.
Assist with coordination among partners and consultants.
