Job summary

Art & Design Partners, LLC, located in Washington, DC, is looking for a junior interior designer or design assistant to support high-end residential projects. You will assist design managers, conduct research for the project team, and engage in space planning and conceptual design activities.

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or equivalent experience, possess strong organizational skills, and be passionate about creating beautiful interiors. Experience with design tools like SketchUp and knowledge of furniture selections are preferred.

High-end residential interior design firm is seeking a junior interior designer/design assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assisting design managers and providing administrative support to office and principals
• Coordinate needs of client, designers and professional trades
• Conduct research for the project team
• Assist in space planning, programming, and conceptual design activities
• Research and/or specify materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and flooring
• Assist with furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E)
• Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
• Conduct field surveys
• Use feedback from other designers to improve
• Collaborate with team member(s) on projects
• Be hands‑on with all aspects of day‑to‑day tasks
• Must possess strong organizational skills and an attention to detail
• Ability to self‑manage, multi‑task and handle numerous projects at once
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interface professionally and collaborate with peers and a demanding clientele
• Passion for creating beautiful, functional interiors
• Own transportation is strongly preferred

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, related design field or have 1+ years experience in a design position
• Experience with design and graphics editing tools (e.g. SketchUp, Photoshop, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) is a plus
• Knowledge of CAD a plus
• Experience with Studio Designer a plus
• Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications is preferred
• Experience with conducting field surveys is preferred
• Space planning knowledge and familiarity with building codes is a plus
• Must live within 30 minutes of Washington DC area
