Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Irvine, CA is seeking an early-career mechanical/design engineer to contribute to lighting system development for automotive applications.

You will use CATIA/SolidWorks/Creo/NX for 2D/3D modeling, perform GD&T, support NPIs and prototyping, and coordinate with OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers to deliver robust components.

Collaborative teamwork with manufacturing, packaging, and supplier teams is essential, along with strong problem solving and documentation.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of mechanical/design engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong CAD modeling and drawing skills.

Responsibilities

• Support lighting component development from concept to release.
• Assist with engineering changes, NPIs, prototypes, and manufacturing support.
• Collaborate with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.

Job description

0-3 years of mechanical/design engineering experience Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Strong CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX Automotive lighting design/development experience preferred

Experience with headlamps, tail lamps, fog lamps, center lamps, or exterior lighting components

Experience with A-class surfaces, packaging, mounting/ brackets, and lighting component integration

Knowledge of plastic components, injection molding, tooling, and DFM/DFA

Strong 2D/3D CAD modeling and drawing skills

GD&T and tolerance stack-up

Engineering change/release experience NPI/prototype and manufacturing support Ability to work with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams
