Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Key Duties

• Install, configure, operate, and maintain database systems across the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) enterprise network.
• Research and apply best practices for database design and administration.
• Support the creation and maintenance of standard database policies, operating procedures, and documentation.
• Monitor database performance, perform fine-tuning, and optimize database systems.
• Support the development and implementation of database backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Conduct audits to assess database capacity and availability.
• Participate in IT and business projects to define database requirements and recommend technology solutions.
• Research, benchmark, document, and introduce new database technologies and features into the application lifecycle.
• Collaborate with application developers, business owners, and architects on database design and implementation.

Required Skills, Experience, And Education

• Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
• This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, including testing for marijuana use.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• 2+ years of related experience designing and implementing database structures, automating DBA tasks, and/or data modeling/schema design.
• Current DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or higher), or ability to obtain within 3 months of start date.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new situations.
• Willingness to work late-night maintenance windows to support patching.
• Strong team collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
• Ability to de-conflict requests and requirements.
• Ability to work independently with high accuracy and attention to detail.

Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

• Experience with MS SQL Server 2019 or higher.
• Experience with MS SQL Server clustering, performance tuning, and database monitoring.
• Experience with MS SQL Server backup and recovery.
• Knowledge of relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture, and operations.
• Experience with databases in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
