Position Title: Jr. Database Administrator

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Clearance Required: Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Work Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday

Travel: Up to 10% of the time

Position Summary:

Aegis Aerospace is currently seeking a Jr. Database Administrator to join our team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the IRES contract at Redstone Arsenal. This position provides essential support in maintaining and optimizing database systems within a secure, mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will:

• Install, configure, operate, and maintain database systems across the MDA enterprise network.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of database policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Implement monitoring and fine-tuning practices to optimize database performance.
• Support development of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Conduct database capacity and availability audits to ensure system readiness.
• Participate in IT and business initiatives to define database system requirements and recommend solutions.
• Contribute to research and introduction of new database technologies into the application lifecycle.
• Collaborate with developers, business owners, and system architects to support design and implementation activities.
• Participate in late-night maintenance windows for system updates and patching.
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must have 2 or more years of related experience in database design, automation, or schema development
• Must have, or obtain within 3 months of start date, a current DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  
  
  

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or newer
• Familiarity with SQL Server clustering, performance tuning, and monitoring
• Knowledge of backup and recovery operations for MS SQL Server
• Understanding of relational DBMS architecture and database design principles
• Experience with Azure or AWS-hosted databases
  
  
  

Compensation:

Salary Range: $75,000.00 – $103,000.00 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
