Job Title: Junior Data & Infrastructure Analyst
Location: Lancaster, PA
Position Overview
- Motivated Junior Data & Infrastructure Analyst with a blend of data analytics experience and foundational networking/infrastructure skills.
- Hybrid role ideal for working with Power BI, SQL, and basic data warehousing concepts.
- Opportunity to grow into an Infrastructure Engineer while contributing to reporting and analytics.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric not required, but a basic understanding is desirable.
- Clear path to transition into a full Infrastructure Engineer over the next few years through mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Data & Reporting (Primary Focus)
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and visualizations.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting and analysis.
- Work with data owners to validate data quality and understand sources.
- Assist with basic data warehousing tasks, including staging tables, star/snowflake schemas, and data models.
- Support ongoing analytics initiatives and help drive insights across the business.
- Infrastructure & Networking (Secondary Focus / Growth Area)
- Provide hands‑on support for basic routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
- Assist with configuration and maintenance of networking devices (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar).
- Participate in small infrastructure projects under guidance from senior engineers.
- Help document network environments, diagrams, and configuration details.
- Support IT operations with infrastructure tasks as needed.
- Cross‑Functional Technical Support
- Interface with data teams, IT, and business users to assist with system integrations and data flows.
- Participate in project planning and contribute to both data and infrastructure readiness.
- Troubleshoot issues that span both analytics and technical infrastructure layers.
Required Qualifications
- Data Skills
- 1-3+ years of experience with Power BI (DAX, data modeling, building dashboards).
- Strong foundational SQL skills: joins, filtering, CTEs, and basic optimization.
- Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts (fact tables, dimensions, ETL flows).
- Understanding of Microsoft Fabric concepts (lakehouse, pipelines, data flows) – hands‑on experience not required.
- Networking / Infrastructure Skills (Understanding / Minimal Experience Required)
- Foundational knowledge of networking: VLANs, subnets, DNS, DHCP, routing/switching concepts, firewalls (conceptual).
- Experience from one or more: Help Desk, Desktop Support, Home lab networks, CCNA/Network+ coursework.
- Demonstrated interest in growing into an Infrastructure Engineer role.
- Soft Skills
- Strong communication and willingness to learn.
- Curious, self‑directed, and resourceful in technical problem‑solving.
- Ability to work across data teams, IT, and end users.
- Excited about building a long‑term career in infrastructure engineering.
- Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- CompTIA Network+
- CCNA (or working toward it)
- Power BI certifications
- Azure fundamentals (AZ‑900)
