Brooksource is hiring a Junior Data Engineer for a hybrid role in Philadelphia, PA. You will help build and support enterprise data pipelines, ingestion processes, and data warehouse solutions with exposure to cloud-based data engineering technologies.

The role emphasizes SQL/T-SQL development, ETL workflows, and data modeling within an SDLC framework. Collaboration with analysts and stakeholders is expected, along with JIRA-based tracking and reporting tools like Tableau and Oracle BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience with SQL, data engineering, or analytics.
• Working knowledge of SQL/T-SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with ETL concepts and data integration processes.
• Understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modeling concepts.
• Understanding of SDLC and software testing practices.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in AWS and cloud-based data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data processing, ingestion, and reporting.
• Build and maintain ETL workflows and data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Use SSIS and related technologies to support data integration and transformation.
• Validate data throughout ingestion and transformation for quality and consistency.
• Assist with designing relational and dimensional data models, including star-schema structures.
• Contribute across the SDLC, including requirements analysis, development, unit testing, UAT, deployment, and production support.
• Perform unit testing and support UAT to validate transformations and business requirements.
• Troubleshoot data pipelines, SQL, and data quality with senior engineers.
• Use JIRA for ticket management and project workflows.
• Support reporting with Tableau and Oracle BI (OBI).
• Document data flows, transformations, and business rules.
• Follow data governance, privacy, security, and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders across technical levels.
