Job description

We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join a collaborative data engineering team responsible for building and supporting enterprise data pipelines, ingestion processes, and data warehouse solutions. This role will primarily work with T-SQL, ETL/SSIS, and relational databases, with increasing exposure to AWS cloud-based data technologies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who has a solid foundation in SQL and data concepts and wants to continue developing into a cloud-focused Data Engineer. The team provides strong mentorship from senior engineers and values candidates who bring curiosity, problem-solving ability, strong communication, and a willingness to learn.

The Junior Data Engineer will participate throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, UAT support, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts supporting data processing, ingestion, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain ETL workflows and data pipelines used to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
  • Work with SSIS and related technologies to support data integration and transformation.
  • Gain hands‑on exposure to AWS data engineering technologies while supporting the continued evolution of cloud‑based data solutions.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of relational and dimensional data models, including star‑schema structures used for data warehousing.
  • Validate data throughout ingestion and transformation processes to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Participate throughout the SDLC, including requirements analysis, development, unit testing, UAT, deployment, and production support.
  • Perform unit testing and assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate data transformations and business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot data pipeline, SQL, and data‑quality issues and work with senior engineers to identify solutions.
  • Use JIRA for ticket management, development tracking, and project workflows.
  • Support reporting and visualization solutions using tools such as Tableau and Oracle BI (OBI).
  • Document data flows, transformations, technical processes, and business rules.
  • Follow established standards related to data governance, privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders across varying levels of technical expertise.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 0–2 years of professional experience working with SQL, databases, data engineering, analytics, or related technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL/T‑SQL, including queries, joins, stored procedures, and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts and data integration processes.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and basic data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and star schemas.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software testing practices.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a technical team.
  • Strong interest in developing skills in AWS and cloud‑based data engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on exposure to SSIS or another ETL/data integration platform.
  • Exposure to AWS services or cloud‑based data platforms.
  • Experience with Tableau, Oracle BI (OBI), or similar business intelligence tools.
