Job summary

Preferred Business Systems is seeking a Cybersecurity Technician I to join our security team in a hands-on, entry-level role. You will monitor client environments, analyze logs, run vulnerability scans, and build security reports for clients while learning incident response and compliance projects.

You will work with senior staff who will review your work, and gain exposure to SOC operations, playbooks, and client onboarding in a supportive MSP context.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in IT support or similar with security exposure.
• Proficient with Windows; basic Linux/macOS familiarity.
• Experience logging work and handling tickets.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or within 90 days of hire.
• Understanding of CIA triad, encryption, authentication, and common attacks.
• Ability to follow procedures and ask for help when needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client environments for threats and analyze logs.
• Perform vulnerability scans and validate results.
• Generate security reports and track remediation progress.
• Assist incident response and evidence gathering.
• Support audits and compliance evidence collection.
