Job summary

JCS Solutions LLC is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer (Junior) to support NICHD/OIT by maintaining and improving the organization’s cybersecurity posture. The role collaborates with the ISSO on security operations, compliance monitoring, risk management, and incident response in line with FISMA and HHS standards.

You will monitor security tools such as Splunk, Tenable, BigFix, Cylance, Secret Server, and Microsoft Defender, assist in vulnerability remediation, and help maintain compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years in IT, cybersecurity, or technical support roles.
• Basic understanding of CIA triad and cybersecurity concepts.
• Familiarity with risk management and vulnerability remediation.
• Familiarity with federal frameworks such as FISMA / NIST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate Security tools and monitor for vulnerabilities and threats.
• Support remediation of vulnerabilities across systems.
• Maintain visibility and compliance across assets.
• Review alerts and assist investigations with data gathering.
• Coordinate with NIH Incident Response Team to track incidents to closure.
• Assist with FISMA-related data collection and reporting.
• Triage ServiceNow requests and coordinate with customers and technical teams.
• Assist with cybersecurity awareness and communication activities.
