Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking a Cost Estimating Specialist to prepare cost estimates for new proposals, review scope and requirements, and support negotiations. The role may be located in Saco, Maine or Colchester, Vermont, with travel up to 25%.

The position requires an Associate's Degree with 0-3 years of experience or equivalent, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role offers a path from entry to professional level within a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Develops cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools.
• Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements.
• Uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates including itemized expenses, labor hours, materials, and potential cost variations.
• Depending on project complexity, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates.
