Job summary

Hatch in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Junior Controls & Automation Engineer to support the Project Delivery Group. You will contribute to instrumentation and control system design across maintenance, expansion, and new construction projects, with on-site and remote collaboration.

You will participate in P&ID development, equipment specification, and PLC/DCS/HMI programming, gaining practical on-site experience and mentorship in a globally connected team.

Qualifications

  • Recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills.
  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or chemical engineering with an interest in controls or computer science.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Instrumentation and Control System engineering design support to multidiscipline teams on maintenance, expansion, and new construction projects.
  • Participate in site evaluations and data collection.
  • Participate in P&ID development and the creation of all associated lists (instruments lists, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment specifications and instrument data sheets.
  • Update motor schematics, loop drawings, layout drawings and instrument location drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of PLC, DCS and HMI programming and functional descriptions.
  • Provide on-site construction, commissioning, and start-up support.
  • Acquire knowledge in control systems, instrumentation and electrical interface systems, SCADA and telemetry, and ISA applications.

Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Controls & Automation Engineer. Reporting to the Project Delivery Group, you will support offices globally working from our Pittsburgh, PA office location.

As the successful candidate, you will:
