Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Jr. Control Technician to assist with electrical and control system work, including diagnostics, repairs and data reporting. The role supports testing, surveys, and layout work while contributing to engineering documentation and procedures.

Based at Mountaineer Plant with up to 30% travel, this position emphasizes safety, compliance, and teamwork within a regional service organization.

Qualifications

• Experience with installation, inspection, repair, adjustment, calibration and servicing of instruments and controls.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from simple prints, sketches and specifications.
• Teamwork and communication with other employees required.
• Physically capable of performing job duties at various heights and locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist locating and repairing defects in control systems involving electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Assist in checks, repairs and adjustments of low/medium voltage circuit breakers and plant electrical control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as batteries, motors, and air systems; record data and prepare reports.
• Support engineering layouts and data preparation for procedures, specifications, and BOMs.
• Utilize work management system to locate parts, create work orders, and record histories.
• Follow permits process to ensure equipment is cleared and tagged prior work.
• Assist in grounds installation/removal and other assigned duties.
