Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a technician to assist with skilled maintenance of electrical and control systems, including diagnostics, detection, and repair of single-loop controls, meters, gauges and regulators.

You will support tests, surveys and layout work, document results, and help prepare data for procedures, specifications, contracts and material requisitions; requires an associate degree in electronics or related field, or equivalent experience, plus strong reading of prints

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree in electronics or related field, or high school diploma with military/industrial experience.
• Ability to read and interpret prints, sketches, and specifications.
• Experience working with other employees and guiding others.

Responsibilities

• Locate and repair defects in control systems using diagrams and measurements.
• Perform maintenance and repair on batteries, motors, and electrical equipment.
• Record data and prepare reports, graphs and curves.
• Install and remove grounds; comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
