Job summary

National Community Renaissance seeks a Junior Compliance Specialist to support affordable housing portfolios by ensuring compliance with regulatory agreements and applicable laws. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment of funding sources, rents, and reporting requirements.

You will review income qualification, produce required documents, and proactively address any noncompliance issues while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of experience as a Lead Compliance Auditor or two years in affordable housing property management.
• Certifications: LIHTC, HUD and BOS or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Review property-specific Regulatory Agreements to identify funding sources and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Compliance Team and external property owners.
• Update internal systems for income limits, rents and utility allowances.
• Review prospective resident files for income qualification and ongoing compliance.

Job description

The Junior Compliance Specialist reports to the Compliance Manager and is a member of a Team ofCompliance professionals responsible for supporting affordable housing portfolios on behalf ofexternal property owners. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders to ensurecompliance with property specific regulatory agreements, applicable laws, and internal policies.RESPONSIBILITIES• Reviews property specific Regulatory Agreements to identify all applicable funding sources andcorresponding regulatory requirements, owner and investor reporting requirements, rent parameters,etc, and ensures internal systems are appropriately aligned.• Coordinates with other Compliance Team members to communicate with external propertyowners.• Updates internal systems to reflect ongoing changes to income limits, rents and utilityallowances.• Reviews prospective resident files for income qualification and continued compliance.• Produces reports, materials, and other documentation as legally required, including to owner andregulatory authorities.• Proactively identifies, reports and resolves any noncompliance matters.• Effectively collaborates with lateral department managers, team members, and clients.• Addresses and resolves any issues or challenges that arise promptly and efficiently.• Participates in professional development activities which, from time to time may include traveland overnight stays.EXPERIENCE• Two to three years’ experience as a Lead Compliance Auditor or two years’ experience inaffordable housing property management.• Has obtained the LIHTC, HUD & BOS certifications or has the ability to obtain thesecertifications within the first 90 days of employment.• Experience working directly with affordable housing funding agencies, ownership entities, andmanagement companies is preferred.• Proficient knowledge of affordable housing programs.• Experience working directly with affordable housing funding agencies, ownership entities, andmanagement companies.Demonstrates strong mathematical proficiency.• Yardi experience is preferred.• Must have a working knowledge of Windows and Office 2000 software: Excel, Word, andOutlook.• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision• Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities.• Possesses effective communication and people skills.• Able to work some weekends and extended hours.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT• Exposure to several types of weather conditions.• Standing, walking, sitting• Driving• Operate computer and office equipment.FLSA CODE• Exempt
