Job summary

Vermeer is seeking a Machinist I in Iowa (Pella) to set up and operate CNC machines, read blueprints, and ensure precise part tolerances. The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and craftsmanship as you produce components for Vermeer equipment.

You will work with 3–4 axis centers, GD&T, and measurement tools to verify quality while contributing to TPM and 5S initiatives. Entry-level machining training or an apprenticeship is preferred and expected.

Qualifications

• Entry-level machining experience or formal training preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T to verify tolerances.
• Capable of setting up and operating CNC machining centers and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining centers (3–4 axis, turning centers).
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T; select tooling and fixtures.
• Load programs and adjust tool/work offsets as directed (G54–G59).
• Use micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to verify part quality and maintain tolerances.
• Safely handle materials and operate cranes, following EHS, LOTO, and PPE procedures.
• Apply shop math to support accuracy and throughput; assist CI/kaizen efforts.
• Support TPM and 5S practices to protect uptime.
