Job description

About Allocore

Allocore powers leading government loans, grants, and fraud prevention programs with a unified cloud-based platform built for efficiency and security. Our advanced solutions support large and complex government programs, helping agencies deliver critical financial resources quickly and efficiently.

At Allocore, our culture is built around three core values — Urgency, Collaboration, and Commitment — which shape how we work, innovate, and support one another.

We are looking for a Junior Cloud Operations Engineer who is eager to build a career in cloud technology and help support the day-to-day operation of our cloud environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or an early-career technology professional with 1–3 years of experience who wants hands‑on exposure to cloud infrastructure, deployments, monitoring, automation, incident response, and modern DevOps/CloudOps practices.

You will work closely with experienced Cloud Operations Engineers, Cloud Engineers, developers, and other technical teams to help ensure our cloud platforms remain secure, reliable, available, and well monitored.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology we use. We are looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, problem‑solving skills, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and support of AWS cloud environments.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure, applications, alerts, dashboards, and system health to help identify potential issues before they impact customers.
  • Assist with application and code deployments, hotfixes, releases, and routine maintenance activities under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Respond to cloud infrastructure alerts, support tickets, and service requests, performing initial troubleshooting and escalating complex issues when appropriate.
  • Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to support production cloud environments during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Assist with after‑hours deployments, maintenance activities, monitoring, and incident response under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Respond to production alerts and perform initial troubleshooting and triage, escalating complex or critical issues according to established procedures.
  • Help ensure timely communication, documentation, and handoff of incidents occurring during nightly and weekend support coverage.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and other technical teams during after‑hours incidents to help maintain system availability, reliability, and operational continuity.
  • Participate in production incident response, helping gather information, troubleshoot problems, document findings, and communicate status to the appropriate teams.
  • Support routine cloud infrastructure activities such as provisioning, configuration, scaling, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Assist with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Sentry, AWS CloudWatch, or similar platforms.
  • Help maintain and improve operational documentation, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and runbooks.
  • Work with Cloud Engineering and Development teams to improve the reliability, repeatability, and automation of deployments and operational processes.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Assist with containerized and cloud‑native environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/Amazon EKS.
  • Follow established security policies, cloud security best practices, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in troubleshooting Linux‑based systems, cloud services, networking, applications, and infrastructure issues.
  • Learn from senior engineers while progressively taking ownership of cloud operational tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in team discussions, technical reviews, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay curious and continuously learn new cloud technologies, tools, and operational practices.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in Information Technology, Cloud Operations, DevOps, Systems Administration, Software Engineering, Technical Support, or a related field.
  • Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and a strong interest in developing hands‑on AWS experience.
