Job summary

TechSurSolutions in the DC metro area is seeking a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to support cloud and on-premises infrastructure for a USCIS federal program. You will work with Linux/Windows, virtualization, and networking, gaining hands-on experience in a mission-critical environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers, security teams, and developers, with opportunities to learn Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD in a federal context.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, IT Operations, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Support Linux and/or Windows servers, virtual machines, storage, network components, and related infrastructure services.
• Assist senior engineers with provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure environments.
• Monitor infrastructure availability, system performance, capacity, and health using enterprise monitoring and logging tools.
• Troubleshoot common server, operating system, network, application connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Support cloud infrastructure services in AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Assist with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes in collaboration with application development and engineering teams.
• Assist with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift, where applicable.
• Support identity and access management activities, including user access, permissions, service accounts, and role-based access controls.
• Assist with vulnerability remediation, system hardening, security patches, and configuration updates in accordance with established federal and organizational security requirements.
• Participate in incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including configuration documents, SOPs, runbooks, architecture information, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base articles.
• Support infrastructure changes across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Work with senior engineers to improve infrastructure reliability, availability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical meetings, sprint activities, and team discussions as needed.
• Assist with production deployments and operational support activities when required.
• Escalate complex infrastructure and security issues to senior engineers and appropriate technical teams.
