Job summary

Kier & Wright Civil Engineers and Surveyors seeks a Project Engineer (Land Development) in Austin, TX. You will support project teams, develop civil design drawings, and coordinate with technicians to deliver plans ready for construction.

The role emphasizes scalable design, collaboration, and timely delivery for commercial, industrial, and high-density residential projects. 2025–2026 grads welcome; EIT preferred; strong software experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; 2025–2026 graduates welcome to apply.
0–5 years of land development experience.
EIT or exam scheduled is preferred.
Proficient with MS Office and Adobe; familiarity with internet apps.

Responsibilities

Carries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.
Develops working drawings for civil design plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management and street frontage improvements) from sketches.
Uses engineering judgment to perform duties and knows when to ask questions or perform independent research.
Manages personal time to meet obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality and schedule.
Provide accurate design of on-site and off-site improvements for planning and construction of commercial, industrial, and/or high-density residential projects ready for construction.
Designs grading, drainage, utilities and stormwater treatment with minimal input from engineer of record.
Performs civil engineering calculations, SWPPPs and other engineering reports.
Effectively interacts with peers, clients, and sub-consultants.
