Job summary

SWE Solutions is seeking a motivated Project Engineer I in Chicago to support construction engineering, project management, and fieldwork on infrastructure projects. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.

The role provides hands-on experience in planning, coordination, and documentation, with exposure to submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ability to read, interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D for reviewing and understanding design plans.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with Primavera P6 (P6) or Microsoft Project for baseline schedules and progress updates.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for markups and construction documentation.
• Basic knowledge of pay applications, change orders, and contract compliance.
• Experience with GIS tools for mapping and site analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering and construction projects under supervision.
• Support project managers in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
• Conduct technical analyses, prepare reports, and assist with submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
• Collaborate with designers, contractors, and field personnel to ensure project objectives are met.
• Participate in quality control and construction oversight to verify progress and compliance.
• Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents to provide technical support.
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to resolve challenges and keep projects on track.
