Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a junior Civil Engineer to join our Water Services team in Phoenix, AZ. Under direct supervision, you will contribute to site layout, drainage and water systems design, and assist with regulatory reviews.

You'll develop technical documentation, participate in knowledge sharing, and support project delivery while gaining broad exposure to civil engineering practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience; domestic/international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderate complexity engineering designs including site layout, grading, hydraulics, water distribution and storage systems.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications and update requirements as needed.
• Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and design documentation.
• Submit technical papers and designs for publication in technical journals; may create posters for conferences.
