Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Morenci, AZ is seeking a Civil Engineer I to support site-wide water systems design, data collection, and analysis for mining operations.

The role focuses on hydrology, hydraulics, water treatment processes, and water quality. You will help maintain the water balance model, work with various engineering teams, and ensure safety standards. On-site housing allowance may apply and a robust benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum.
• Knowledge of civil, geotechnical, hydrologic or water/wastewater engineering or related field.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word, with knowledge of CAD, analytical, mapping tools.
• Fluency in English; ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
• Present a positive, professional image and be client-service oriented.
• Self-motivated and able to execute tasks; safety-conscious.
• Ability to recognize hazards and follow safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Acquire knowledge of site-wide water systems including hydrology, hydraulics, hydrogeology, water treatment design and water quality.
• Assist with water data measurement, QA, instrument calibration, and flowsheet mapping.
• Contribute to Tailings, Crushed Leach and Water Management data collection and analysis.
• Support maintenance of site-wide water simulation model and run scenarios.
• Perform other duties as required.
