Job summary

Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District is seeking an entry‑level civil/ Mechanical engineer to support planning, design, operation, and construction of water, sewer, and recycled water capital projects. Under close supervision, you will gain experience while delivering work products on established timelines.

You will perform routine engineering tasks, participate in calculations, and assist in project teams under guidance from senior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
• 3–5 years engineering experience in water utility projects.
• PE license in California required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering planning and design for capital construction and improvement programs for the District's water systems and facilities.
• Prepare calculations, sketches, specifications and estimates for water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution facilities.
• Serve as project engineer in support of senior staff for facilities construction and refurbishment projects.
• Assist in administering construction contracts; review progress payments and change orders; resolve field issues.
• Prepare, review, and check engineering drawings, plans, computations, and reports for soundness and District standards.
• Monitor construction work in-progress to ensure compliance with plans and standards.
• Prepare feasibility studies and environmental assessments for proposed facilities.
• Prepare contractual documents, including MOUs and agreements with other agencies.
• Present engineering design and project plans to the Board with guidance.
• Obtain required permits and other documents for projects.
