Job summary

HirexHire is seeking an Associate Chemist for its East Providence, RI location to support test work and formulation activities within the chemistry group. This entry-level role focuses on product applications, quality verification, and cost-saving initiatives in a hands-on lab environment.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (or related science) or has 3+ years in coatings, with strong communication, data organization, and Excel/SAP skills.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related science.
• In lieu of degree, 3+ years’ related coatings industry experience.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to apply probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to solve practical problems with varying variables.
• Some knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SAP (preferred).
• Detail oriented with accurate written and verbal communication.
• Requires frequent standing and walking in a lab.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain records, data files, and lab notebooks.
• Support formulation and testing for lab projects.
• Develop knowledge of testing equipment for projects.
• Investigate methods and procedures for application and process control.
• Prepare chemical mixtures following formulas or procedures.
• Document test results using software and handwritten notes.
• Generate status reports on ongoing projects.
• Analyze test data using computer software.
