As a Junior Camp Counselor, you are responsible for the safety, well-being, and supervision of campers. All duties performed should reflect the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure camper safety and a risk-free environment
• Assist with activity implementation as per schedule
• Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff
• Organize and maintain camp equipment and supplies
• Participate actively in all scheduled activities
• Keep accurate camp records
• Follow YMCA guidelines and policies
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You'll Need

• Age of at least 16–17 years old
• Experience working with children preferred
• For DHS-licensed sites, enrollment or completion of Early Childhood Education classes
• Ability to use technology effectively
• Attend all required pre-camp and camp season training and meetings

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, sit, walk, communicate, and hear frequently. May need to lift up to 25 pounds regularly. Exposure to bacteria and viruses is possible. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
