Job summary

Barnhart Crane & Rigging is seeking a Drafter (Level I) to support engineers in creating specialty equipment for heavy lift and transport projects across North America. The role emphasizes hands-on learning while contributing to the design process and overall project success.

Ideal candidates have 0-3 years CAD experience, basic CAD software exposure (Inventor/AutoCAD preferred), and strong communication and teamwork skills. Occasional site visits and outdoor work may be required.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years CAD operation experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) for docs and reporting.
• Basic CAD software exposure; Inventor/AutoCAD preferred; other parametric CAD ok.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers in designing and documenting equipment for heavy lift and transport projects across North America.
• Create preliminary CAD models, concept drawings, finalized models, and fabrication drawings.
• Support during fabrication and documentation (load tests, specs) and update documents as revisions occur.
• Develop knowledge of Barnhart equipment and assist in basic mechanical design and structural analysis tasks.
• Create organized Equipment Packages for documentation storage and assist in troubleshooting design issues with engineers.
