Job summary

Atlas Fibre in Northbrook, IL seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to create detailed CAD models and drawings for NPIs and production parts, and to author dependable engineering documentation that guides fabrication.

You’ll interpret part specs, apply GD&T, design fixtures, and program CNC toolpaths for complex geometries while collaborating with operators and engineers to improve manufacturability and reduce cost in a fast-paced, high-mix setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years in a manufacturing or engineering role.
• Familiar with GD&T and standard engineering practices.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Mastercam, or Onshape.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed CAD models and drawings for NPI and production parts.
• Author and maintain engineering documentation that guides fabrication and manufacturing.
• Interpret part specs and evaluate the feasibility of design concepts.
• Program CNC toolpaths for intricate geometries.
• Communicate closely with operators and engineers to solve problems and streamline processes.
• Troubleshoot in-process issues and refine designs to enhance manufacturability and reduce cost.
