We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer to support the development, review, and optimization of mechanical components and assemblies for manufacturing applications. This role will work closely with engineering, fabrication, and production teams to create detailed CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation while ensuring designs meet quality, functionality, and manufacturability requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong CAD skills, a solid understanding of machining and fabrication processes, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Review customer and engineering designs to identify manufacturability concerns and recommend design improvements.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to support efficient production processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to resolve design and fabrication challenges.
- Evaluate part geometry, tolerances, materials, and assembly requirements to ensure production readiness.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities by troubleshooting design and manufacturing issues.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, revision-controlled drawings, and technical records.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives focused on reducing manufacturing issues and improving workflow efficiency.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and production documentation to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Provide support for machining, fabrication, and assembly operations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience developing mechanical designs and manufacturing documentation in a production environment.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD modeling software.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machining operations, and fabrication methods.
- Experience creating and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing standards.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC machining, CAM software, and manufacturing process optimization.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, fixture design, and assembly processes.
