Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Buyer I to support a global manufacturing organization in Humble, TX. This contract-to-hire role focuses on procurement, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and production teams.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in purchasing, strong negotiation skills, and experience with ERP systems. The position offers on-site work, a competitive hourly rate, and opportunities for long-term engagement within a dynamic industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials management, or a related function.
• Understanding of purchasing principles, supplier management, sourcing strategies, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Review purchasing requests, verify specifications, and source materials, components, and services from approved suppliers.
• Prepare and distribute RFQs, evaluate supplier proposals, and identify best value based on price, quality, and delivery.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with established procedures.
• Review inventory usage and purchasing requirements to support production and manufacturing schedules.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and coordinate onboarding.
• Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvements to the supplier base.
• Work with vendors and transportation providers to expedite shipments and resolve delays.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure materials are available to meet production needs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support procurement cost-reduction initiatives.
• Assist with supplier and subcontractor contract negotiations, including pricing and terms.
