Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz in Columbia, MD is seeking a Junior Buyer to support procurement operations, ensuring materials and services are delivered on time and within budget. You will manage purchase orders, coordinate with suppliers, and work with internal teams to meet requirements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with ERP software (specifically SAP) is a significant advantage
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High level of accuracy in data entry and documentation
• Proactive approach to resolving supply chain disruptions
• Exceptional time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
• Comfort switching between buying physical goods and intangible services
• This position might require ITAR compliance for US persons

Responsibilities

• Process purchase orders accurately and timely based on approved requisitions
• Serve as the primary point of contact between internal stakeholders and external vendors
• Ensure order acknowledgements from vendors are received & recorded
• Coordinate with internal requestors or warehouse/logistics to confirm receipt of goods/services
• Handle discrepancies in shipments and resolve with vendors
• Set up, maintain and update approved vendor data in the ERP system
• Assist in vendor performance evaluations based on lead times, quality, and reliability
• Assist Senior Buyers in negotiating contracts and terms of service
• Provide reports and support in vendor management tasks
• Support and backup other team members in their tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Your tasks

• Process purchase orders accurately and timely based on approved requisitions

• Ensure order acknowledgements from vendors are received & recorded
• Coordinate with the internal requestor or warehouse/logistics to confirm receipt of goods/services
• Handle discrepancies in shipments (missing items, damaged goods) and resolve them with vendors
• Set up, maintain and update the data of approved vendors in the ERP system

Your Qualifications

Interested?

The total compensation for this position is $42K-$55K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
