Job summary

Feeser's Food Distributors, based in Harrisburg, PA, is seeking a Junior Buyer to join the purchasing team onsite. The role supports inventory replenishment, purchase order administration, supplier communication, and data analysis to optimize stock and ensure timely deliveries.

You will collaborate with warehouse and AP teams, help balance inventory, and monitor supplier performance in a fast-paced foodservice distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor degree in business, supply chain, purchasing, logistics, or finance.
• 0–2 years purchasing, merchandising, inventory, warehouse, customer service, or distribution experience.
• Previous food service or food distribution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage purchase orders under established purchasing guidelines.
• Review system-generated purchasing recommendations.
• Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations and shipment status.
• Resolve discrepancies related to quantities, pricing, or deliveries.
• Inventory support and balancing to support service and turn objectives.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify stock shortages.
• Coordinate with warehouse and receiving teams regarding incoming products.
• Work with accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain purchasing records and support new vendor/item setup.

WE ARE LOOKING TO ADD A JUNIOR BUYER TO OUR PURCHASING TEAM IN HARRISBURG, PA

SUMMARY

The Junior Buyer is an entry-level purchasing professional responsible for supporting inventoryreplenishment, purchase order administration, supplier communication, and inventory analysis within assignedcategories. This role provides critical support to the purchasing department.The Junior Buyerassistswithmaintainingproduct availability, managing order accuracy, resolving purchasing issues, and ensuring purchasing processes are executed efficiently and accurately.

ALL WORK WILL BE PERFOMED ONSITE IN HARRISBURG, PA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and manage purchase orders under established purchasing guidelines.

• Review system-generated purchasing recommendations.

• Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.

• Follow up with suppliersregardingorder confirmations and shipment status.

• Resolve discrepancies related to quantities, pricing, or deliveries.

• Inventory Support

• Monitor inventory levels andidentifypotential stock shortages.

• Review low-stock and out-of-stock reports daily.

• Assistin balancing inventory levels to support service and turnobjectives.

• Supplier Communication

• Serve aspointof contact for routine supplier communications.

• Obtain order confirmations, lead times, and availability updates.

• Track fill rates and report service concerns.

• Escalate supply disruptions and service failures as needed.

• Data Analysis & Reporting

• Maintain purchasing reports and inventory performance metrics.

• Support forecasting activities through data collection and reporting.

• Assistwith identifying inventory opportunities and risks.

• Operational Coordination

• Coordinate with warehouse and receiving teamsregardingincoming products.

• Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.

• Support product transitions, substitutions, and item phase-outs.

• Administrative Support

• Maintainaccuratesupplierandpurchasingrecords.

• Support new vendor and item setup processes.

• Ensure purchasing documentation and recordsremaincurrent.

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• PreviousFood service or Food distribution experience. (Preferred)
