Unknown Publishing Co. is seeking a Junior Book Designer to support the creative team on a variety of children’s and young adult book projects. The role involves working in-office with a deadline-driven environment and a passion for children’s literature.

The position requires proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and a solid understanding of print design concepts, with 1–3 years of design experience preferred. Eligibility depends on working 30+ hours weekly for at least 10 weeks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or comparable experience.
• 1–3 years of graphic design experience preferred.
• Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite and print design concepts.
• Excellent organizational abilities and multitasking skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration with editors and creative staff.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the creative team to develop original book layouts and cover designs.
• Prepare interior pages and cover mechanics using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Design typography and visual elements to create engaging jackets and interior pages.
• Coordinate with illustrators, photographers, and letterers, providing creative direction.
• Review color proofs and attend meetings to ensure project quality and deadlines are met.
