Job summary

Expo is seeking an early-career software engineer to join the EAS infrastructure team. You will help design, build, and operate the backend services that developers rely on, running on Linux, VMs, and cloud platforms.

You’ll own code with tests and monitoring, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute improvements to keep Expo’s infrastructure fast, reliable, and cost-effective. This role is ideal for those who want to grow with a hands-on, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux, containers, and small services.
• Built real, end-to-end projects with users or real load.
• Familiar with virtual machines and container tech.
• Cloud experience with Google Cloud; familiarity with AWS/Azure.

Responsibilities

• Join Expo's EAS infrastructure team as an early-career engineer, working with a senior engineer.
• Learn to design, build, and operate the backend infrastructure behind our developer-facing services on Linux, VM and cloud foundations.
• Build internal improvements that make our services easier to manage, faster and cheaper to run, and Expo a better place to work.
• Write software that runs correctly and efficiently, and own its uptime and performance.
• Own the code you write: add tests and monitoring, and join your team's on-call rotation.
