Job summary

State Street in Burlington, MA is seeking an entry-level Junior Software Engineer for our API Engineering team. You will design, develop, test, and support REST APIs powering internal business apps and partner integrations, with mentorship from senior engineers.

You will grow in backend development, systems integration, and API design while contributing to secure, scalable services in a collaborative environment that values learning and quality code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 0-2 years of professional software development experience with REST APIs exposure.
• Familiarity with Java, C#, .NET, or Spring Boot and Git.
• Basic understanding of REST/HTTP, JSON, and SQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services under guidance.
• Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and CI/CD tasks.
• Assist with API integration, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Support security, reliability, and performance improvements for APIs.
