Job summary

Confidential Employer, an Illinois law firm focused on defending employers in workers' compensation matters, is seeking a candidate with Illinois Bar admission or pending November swearing-in. The role offers hybrid work with some travel to Chicago and collar counties, and no prior workers' compensation experience is required.

You will defend workers' compensation claims, research issues, and draft documents while developing case strategies alongside experienced attorneys.

Qualifications

• Illinois Bar is required; November admission pending is acceptable.
• Interest in employer-side defense and willingness to learn.
• Able to meet office attendance and travel expectations.
• Workers' compensation defense and legal billing experience is helpful, not required.
• Experienced attorneys, including in-house counsel and solo practitioners, are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Defend workers' compensation claims from case preparation through resolution.
• Research legal issues, review case materials, and draft legal documents and correspondence.
• Prepare for hearings and other proceedings, with responsibilities matched to training and admission status.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop case strategies and move matters forward.
• Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and record billable time accurately.

Job description

Pay:

$85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Location

Chicago, IL, with a hybrid schedule generally including one to two office days per week after onboarding. You'll spend more time with us initially while getting comfortable with our team and systems. Fully remote work may be considered for the right downstate Illinois candidate, with travel for Chicago and collar county dockets and some in-person attorney meetings.

You must have already passed the Illinois Bar Examination. Candidates awaiting November swearing-in are welcome. No prior attorney or workers' compensation experience is required.
