Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Jr. Applications Engineer to support enterprise convergence for MDA on the IRES contract. The role focuses on administering SolarWinds Observability and StruxureWare, ensuring health, STIG compliance, and rapid incident response.

Candidates should bring 2+ years of IT admin experience, strong troubleshooting, and DoD clearance. The position requires on‑site work at Schriever SFB, CO, or Redstone Arsenal, AL, with up to 10% travel and 24/7 on‑call support.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of general (full‑time) work experience.
• Must have 1+ years of directly related IT administration experience.
• Proficient with Windows Server 2022+ and applying security patches.
• Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of SNMPv3, Syslog, ICMP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, TFTP and WMI.
• Basic knowledge of SQL Server 2022+ and SWQL for backend troubleshooting.
• Proficient with PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation.
• Understand IP subnetting, routing/switching, VLANs, and basic packet analysis.
• Experience with Remedy/Helix ticketing systems.
• Experience or familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Willing to provide on‑call support and support 24/7 MDA operations.
• DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification and active DoW Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support SolarWinds Observability and StruxureWare environments, ensuring config, upgrades, patches, and DISA STIG compliance.
• Maintain overall health of environments, optimize and document infrastructure, and design dashboards and alerts.
• Provide on‑call support and respond to outages within 1 hour; support 24/7 MDA operations.
