Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Application Developer I to design and build enterprise applications supporting the Asset Technology AMI portfolio. The role emphasizes Microsoft backend technologies, Angular frontend, API integration, and CI/CD automation in a fast-paced environment.

You will work under supervision, translate requirements into code, participate in testing and deployments, and mentor junior staff while aligning with ITIL processes and digital transformation goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field.
• Deep knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and development principles.
• Hands-on backend development experience with Microsoft technologies and modern web frontend.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience applying AI technologies in application development and solution design.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise solutions prioritizing minimal customization when using COTS systems.
• Create and modify Technical Design documents.
• Collaborate with teams to plan coding and overall program development.
• Translate specifications into efficient code meeting performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain software; participate in testing and deployment.
• Provide on-call support and mentor junior staff.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication skills

Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities

Ability to mentor less experienced personnel

Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
